We are located in Sikasso. A city located in the south of Mali and is the capital of the Sikasso Region. Home to over 130,700 people, Sikasso was recently recognized as the second-largest city of Mali. It’s the most fertile part of Mali and consequently, very green.
Situated about 375 km southeast of Bamako (capital of Mali), 100 km north of Côte d’Ivoire, and 45 km west of Burkina Faso, Sikasso is a link between the coastal countries of Togo, Bénin, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire and the landlocked countries of Mali and Burkina Faso. The culture of Sikasso is a tapestry of ethnic groups. The major ethnic groups residing in this land is the Bambara, the Senufo, the Bobo and the Minianka.
Sikasso boasts of a subtropical climate, conducive to the development of agriculture. The fruit and vegetable produce is forming the main base of the economy of Sikasso. The residents earn their daily living from these resources.
Sikasso was established at the beginning of the nineteenth century by Mansa Douala. The town remained a small village until 1876. It was during this time when Tieba Traoré, became the King of the Kénédougou Empire and shifted its capital there. He founded his palace on the holy Mamelon hill, Sikasso.
